Drive-Up Spay And Neuter Clinic To Be Held On The Wind River Reservation

Credit Animal Adoption Center in Jackson A spay and neuter clinic will be held May 7 and 8 at the Arapaho School gym. Dog bites from feral dogs have been increasing over the last few years. A way to get ahead of the problem is fewer litters of puppies. Carrie Boynton with the Animal Adoption Center in Jackson helped put together the clinic. In past years, the center also provided dog food and meals for their owners but this year is different. We are not going to have other people in the building. Normally we bring dog food and people food, said Boynton. Just as a safety precaution to keep people safe.

Jackson Hole pet adoptions smashed records in 2020

As humans were seeking relief from a more home-bound world of COVID-19, Jackson Hole s Animal Adoption Center was breaking its all-time record for dog and cat adoptions in 2020. The Animal Adoption Center found homes for 462 pets last year, nearly double the typical annual adoption rate of 220 to 250 animals in an average year, according to Executive Director Carrie Boynton. The adoption numbers also soared past the nonprofit s prior record set in 2006 when there were 404 adoptions. At least 2,014 animals were spayed or neutered.  “It’s amazing,” Boynton said. “We’re so lucky to have such an incredibly supportive community. It’s a special place that we live in, so many people willing to open their hearts and their homes to animals and give them a chance as a foster or as a new family member. It’s pretty special stuff.”
