The WCSD school board cancels in person meeting and goes virtual

The Washoe County School Board s meeting today is being livestreamed and can be watched at RGJ.com. The board moved the meeting from in-person citing that there were concerns about people during public comment who did not wear a mask and who were confrontational at its last meeting on March 30. Public comment can only be submitted via email and will not be read aloud. A few people submitted public comment ahead of today s meeting upset that the board was canceling the in person chance for people to voice their concerns. It is appalling that you would shut down the board meetings and not take in person public comment from the citizens of Washoe County, wrote Carolyn Sullivan. We pay taxes to keep the school district afloat, and our children and grandchildren are being educated in this system.

2013. and good morning, everyone. welcome to today. i m savannah guthrie. i m matt lauer. we re starting with a story talked about all across the country. the poisonous letters sent to new york s mayor and advocates of gun control. we have fresh information. jonathan, good morning to you. a letter to the mayor was stopped ahead of time, but the letter to the lobbyist did reach him and he opened it, but he has not falling ill. the letter obviously referred to our anti-gun efforts. new york mayor michael bloomberg confirmed one ricin letter was sent to him, but it was intercepted by an alert mail room worker at this manhattan office building where mail to city hall is screened. but in washington, gun control activist mark glaze got his letter at his private office. officials say both ricin letters threaten the mayor, warning no one is going to take away gun rights. the d.c. police report says the letter had a whitish-orange substance on the note and was opened as glaz
