Stanford men's and women's golf continued their seasons at the Jackson Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas from Oct. 9 to Oct. 11. Despite strong individual performances, the Cardinal women failed to defend their title.
Clemson, S.C. Clemson junior Savannah Grewal fired a bogey free three-under-par 69 on Friday, and stands in a tie for second place at The Spirit, an international tournament featuring some of the top young amateurs in the world. The field is composed of 20 four-member teams that feature two men and two women.Grewal, a native of Ontario, is one of two women on the Canadian team. There is an individual and team competition that will conclude Saturday at the Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.Grewal has a 140 score through 36 holes to stand in a tie for second place at four-under-par after rounds of 71 and 69. Grewal has been incredibly consistent, with just one bogey in her 36 holes. She has gone 24 consecutive holes without a bogey entering Saturday’s final round.Grewal has made five birdies and 30 pars so far. The Cardinal is missing four golfers from its lineup this week due to the Spirit International, where Rebecca Becht (Belgium), Rachel Heck (USA), Caroline Sturdza (Switzerland) and Rose Zhang (USA) are representing their countries. Despite that, Stanford fired a 3-under 289 and leads the field.
STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Colorado women's golf team finished the Stanford Intercollegiate 16th on Sunday, but individually junior Ellie Gower finished one of the best performances of her collegiate career as she tied for 10th to earn her first collegiate top-10 finish.
