MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - An advocacy group says school workers are continuing to be left in the dark about the vaccination process.
This comes after the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control held a media briefing providing no concrete updates about how teachers would get the vaccine.
South Carolina Education Association President Sherry East said teachers are essential workers who deserve to know how and when theyâll get the lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine.
âWe really need to accelerate the plan,â East said.
Officials with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) say the internal database they use to track COVID-19 cases has been experiencing problems that has caused incomplete case reporting for several days.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) - As it stands now, teachers will not receive priority for COVID-19 vaccine appointments when South Carolina moves to Phase 1b in the stateâs distribution plan, but one school leader wants that to change.
In the most recent South Carolina Vaccine Advisory Committee meeting, a 20-3 vote kept the Department of Health and Environmental Control from prioritizing any subgroup over another in Phase 1b.
