Three days after the explosion that killed a passenger on a Southwest Airlines plane, the agency is ordering the inspection of hundreds of engines. Transportation correspondent kris van cleave has late details on this. Kris . Reporter jeff, this is a rare move by the f. A. A. , and it affects about 175 planes in the u. S. , 340 worldwide. The emergency order is aimed at airlines like southwest that heavily use their aircraft on a daily basis. They will have 20 days to inspect 737s with engines that 0,d approximately 30,000 takeoffs and landings. Esr southwest, that would be a jet that could be roughly 12 to 13 years old, as a ballpark, or older. The ultrasonic inspections take ouout four hours per engine to complete. Inspectors will look f
