New at 6 00, a driver crashed into the front yard of a home in San Franciscos forest hills neighborhood this afternoon. The red sedan crashed into a gas meter just after 1 00. It caused a small gas leak. Pg e crews were called in to make repairs. Police are investigating. Person called for help, hopefully well have that information on abc7 news at 11 00. Reporting live at pointos in San Francisco. A fire on the tracks at the walnut creek bart station brought service to a halt. The fire is out but Service Remains slow. Lisa amin gulezian is live from the station. Reporter a lot of progress has been made in the past hour or so. Take a look. You can see crews are working right where the fire started on the third rail on platform 2, the westbound side. Now, everything, however, is being singletracked from platform one. This whole thing start after 3 00. Thats when the fire was first spotted. Smoke could be seen for miles. The fire ran about 50 feet and took firefighters about 30 minutes to put it out. They think a faulty power pickup paddle is to blame. Those paddles move and send power into the train. Sometimes thats get stuck in an up position and if they do, they make contact with that fiberglas covering, which would have the potential to set it on fire.
