Port Clinton girls topple Danbury, 51-36

PORT CLINTON Port Clinton lifted its play in the middle two quarters and defeated rival Danbury, 51-36. The Redskins led 10-9 after the first quarter and outscored the Lakers 27-16 in the middle two quarters to take a 37-25 lead into the fourth.
“Port Clinton played a more aggressive game. We struggled putting the ball in the basket, plus Port Clinton didn’t give us many good looks,” said Danbury coach Dick Heller.Da’Cariya Lanier scored 24 points to lead all scorers, including 11 in the middle two quarters, and Olivia Jackson finished with 14 points.

PORT CLINTON Port Clinton trailed early but rallied in the second quarter to take the lead and held on for a 52-50 win over Huron.
The Tigers led 14-7 after the first quarter but the Redskins rallied to take a 24-22 lead into the half. Port Clinton (1-3, 1-1 SBC Bay) led 36-35 after three quarters and outscored Huron, 16-15, in the fourth.
It was the first win of the season for the Redskins, who got a game-high 23 points from Da’Cariya Lanier, 12 of which came in the second half. Lanier made five 3-pointers and scored seven points in the fourth quarter. Teammate Olivia Jackson finished with 14 points.
