TAMPA, Fla. â The Food and Drug Administration is expected to authorize Pfizerâs COVID-19 vaccine for children 12 to 15 as early as this week.
Doctors say the ability to get more teens vaccinated will be a big deal in the fight against COVID-19.
âI think this is really fantastic in particular, you know considering the summer and then of course the next school year,â said Dr. Carina Rodriguez, Professor of Pediatrics and Division Chief of Infectious Diseases at the University of South Florida.

TAMPA, Fla. â As more parents want to know when a COVID-19 vaccine will be approved for their children, more companies are starting clinical trials.
âWe want to make sure that the vaccines are safe,â said Dr. Carina Rodriguez, Division Chief of Infectious Diseases and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida.
Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson are three of the companies working on a vaccine for kids right now.

Even if the number of people dying from COVID-19 in pediatrics is very different to adults, still they are over what the amount of children, who for example, die from influenza every year.
