Traveled to Walter Reed National military Medical Center this morning to undergo whats called an embolization procedure for a benign kidney condition. Her spokeswoman said the procedure went well. The first lady is feeling fine. But she would likely remain in the hospital for the remainder of the week. One of the reasons is when you undergo this sort of surgery, you want to stay quiet for a little while to make sure that the surgery takes in the way that it should. Also want to make sure there is no bleeding or anything like that. She will likely remain there through thursday or friday. While we have not been told what the precise condition is, embolization therapy and the kidney is typically used to treat a tumor. Sometimes its used to treat cancer is tumors or try to shrink them down so its much easier to remove them surgically when you do go into do surgery.
