Pursuant to notice on june 30, 2017 the committee needs to consider the nominations of clarion grady to be undersecretary of management at the department of Homeland Security and hammy carter to be special counsel office. Just a brief opening remark, i think as the hearing indicated a couple weeks ago, to highly qualified candidates, simply couldnt be more impressed with the people selected to fill those incredibly important positions. In terms of the folks we are going to be voting on, we will talk about the nominees but i am pleased that we are voting on two qualified candidates and i certainly intend to support their nominations and with that i will yield my Ranking Member, senator mccaskill. That ben jerrys was willing to take a stand on an issue that was not in its own financial selfinterest. It was for the common good. That was the big difference. Business is always taking political stance. Business is a very political animal. It is always lobbying to not raise the minimum wage. Business is always lobbying to not add any more environmental regulation. Business is always looking out for its financial selfinterest. But when business takes a stand for the common good, people stand up and take notice. This is something that is different. That really set ben jerrys on the path to being a different kind of company. And as ben said, soon there after the cold war ended, so it was very successful.
