Fritz blames EFF for Western Capeâs âinstabilityâ

Cape Town - Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz has blamed instability and violence in the province on the EFF.
Presenting his departmentâs R739 million budget for the 2021/22 financial year, Fritz said: âLet me state that the EFF is a big part of our problem in terms of stability in this province. They donât stop the violence, they cause the violence.â
Fritz, who was replying to criticism during the debate from EFF provincial chairperson Melikhaya Xego, said: âXego is part of the problem. I donât even want to address what he says, because he is many a time a part of the problems that make this an unsafe province. He is the cause of the unsafe province.â
Watch out, the liquor inspectors are about
Albert Fritz, the Provincial Minister for Community Safety, issued the directive on Thursday: According to the veteran politician, several ‘enforcement operations’ are due to take place in the Western Cape to ensure that the latest lockdown guidance is being adhered to. Fritz, however, distanced his department from the potential of another full alcohol ban:
“We all have to have heightened vigilance and act responsibly: Liquor Inspectors will be conducting Easter Weekend enforcement operations with heightened vigilance to increase compliance. We urge businesses to follow the health and safety protocols so that we don’t allow any space to cause a super-spreader event.”
