Recognition of documents highlights Indigenous cultures and knowledge

Last Updated: Friday, May 14, 2021 15:41 Two new collections have been inscribed in the Canada Memory of the World Register that highlight the preservation and transmission of Indigenous cultures and knowledge. The Canada Memory of the World Register was created in 2017 to promote significant documentary heritage from the first settling of the land by Indigenous Peoples to the present. It is part of UNESCO’s Memory of the World program which showcases the most meaningful documents in humanity’s heritage and history.  Five Gwich’in men model replicas of 19th C. traditional caribou skin clothing at the unveiling of a knowledge repatriation project.
