Hour, firefighters think it burned for quite some time before anybody noticed. The fire then jumped to a house and then heavily damaged it and then spread to three more houses. A lot of folks are in bed and by the time they tried to escape, there was a lot of smoke and flames. Many of them had to run past the house that was fully engulfed and had smoke inhalation. One man had burns to his back and went to the hospital. All injuries are minor at this point. Contra costa county fire Marshal Robert marshall says the high cost of bay area housing might be a factor in all of this because when people cram into houses, they often have unpermitted construction that pushes the homes too close together making it easier for the flames to spread. People are finding alternate ways of living in that kind of situation so you have houses that become overcrowded and they need places to put those people so thats one of the possibilities is that they build for that reason. Bay. More triple digit temperatures today, and it it is safe to say that the bay area is feeling the heat. The firefighters had to not only battle the heat today as well as a brush fire. Jana katsuyama is live on the scene. Fire crews had difficulty getting water when they arrived and found there were no fire hydrants nearby. Reporter that was a big problem, heather. Were right here at the scene. You can see how close the fire came to the mobile home park. Thats at the back of the park. They had to bring in special trucks to haul it all the way. You can see how high and how close it got. Right now, if you take a look over here, you can see they have fire crews here still with hoses, putting out the hot spots. But due to the drought, the creek bed was completely dry, and the trees and other vegetation around it caught fire quickly a
