The Campaign for Democratic and Workers’ Rights (CDWR), Osun State has called on trade unions and Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), to look into the planned sacking of hundreds of recently recruited workers at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile-Ife by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Pro-Workers Group Seeks Immediate End To Prosecution Of Activist, Abbey Trotsky, For Defending Sumal Food Workers

A group, Campaign for Democratic and Workers Rights (CDWR), has called for an immediate end to the prolonged prosecution of Comrade Abiodun Bamigboye, popularly known as Abbey Trotsky by the Oyo State police commissioner at the instance of Sumal Food Limited.   Abbey and the CDWR supported the struggle of casual workers treated like slaves in Sumal Food in 2018 for decent pay and conditions, hence the use of the police and judiciary for persecution.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Oyo State chapter and others stormed Iyaganku Magistrate Court on Wednesday over the appearance and re-arraignment of Comrade Abiodun Bamigboye, popularly known as Abbey Trotsky. Bamigboye is the Chairman of the Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN). Bamigboye is facing criminal charges instituted by the Oyo State police commissioner at the instance of Sumal Food Limited.  

Pro-Workers Group Calls For Reinstatement Of 450 Workers Sacked By Lagos Water Corporation

A group, Campaign for Democratic and Workers Rights (CDWR) has described the sacking of 450 Lagos State Water Corporation workers as insensitive.  The Lagos State Water Corporation sacked 450 casual workers last week. It was learnt that the affected staff members were shocked when they were served with sack letters on Tuesday and given an ultimatum to surrender all the government property in their care. The decision to sack the workers was said to have jolted some of the staff members who were not affected by the exercise.
