Candidate ross perot. [applause] thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you my fellow americans. On this day, with high hopes and brave hearts, in massive numbers, the American People have voted to make a new beginning. This election is a call for our country to face the challenges of the end of the cold war, in the beginning of the next century. To restore growth to our country and opportunity to our people in. To empower our own people so that they can take more responsibility for their own lives. To face bob runs too long ignored, from aides to the environment, to the conversion of our economy for the defense to a domestic economic child. And perhaps, most important of, all to bring our people together as never before so that our diversity can be a source of strength, in a world that is ever smaller, where everyone counts and everyone is a part of americas family. I want to begin this night by thanking my family, my wife without whom i would not be here tonight. And who i

[applause] thank you, thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you so much, you just have no idea how warming and generous that welcome is, your love is, your affection. Im gratified by it. I am sorry that we got here a little bit late and a little bit short. Earlier today, i spoke to president bush and offered him and laura our congratulations on their victory. We had a good conversation. We talked about the danger of division in our country, and the needs, the desperate need, for unity for finding the common ground, coming together. Today i hope that we can begin the healing. [applause] in america, it is vital that every vote counts and that every vote be counted. But the outcome should be decided by voters not by a protracted legal process. I would not give up this fight if there was a chance

We talked about the danger of division in our country and the ne need, desperate need finding Common Ground and coming together. Today i hope that we can begin the healing. In america it is vital that every vote count and every vote be counted. But the outcome should be decided by voters, not a protracted legal process. I would not give up this fight if there was a chance that we would prevail but it is now clear that even when all the provisional ballots are counted, which they will be, there wont be enough outstanding votes for us to be able to win ohio. Therefore, we cannot win this election. My friends,

Of the tensions, unrest, on election day, and in the immediate aftermath. I do know that our f. B. I. Has been very focused on this issue. Theyve set up relationships with state Election Officials to monitor what we see across various different states. In the event there is trouble, our governors do have the National Guard to preserve the peace. But, margaret, none of this discussion should discourage people from participating in voting and exercising their right and responsibility to vote. Im encouraged that more than 90 million americans have already cast their ballots. Which if you do the math, is the equivalent of the entire 1996 president ial election. I remain optimistic, but we cannot discount the possibility of some trouble or unanticipated events brennan and it is the job of Law Enforcement to worry about these pockets. Possibilities. Yotheyre going to be briefing the media every few hours on election day about any interference. How do you assess the security of this election
