SHAWNEE, Okla. - West Side Christian held its breath as Claremore Christian stood at the free throw line in the final seconds with two free throws, trailing by a single point. After the first and then second free throw missed, the Lady Warriors’ Camille McKnight snagged the rebound and held on as the final time ticked off the clock.
BRYANT - West Side Christian’s girls and boys both advanced in the Heartland Christian Athletic Association 2A East Regional Tournament Thursday in Bryant. The Lady Warriors handled Southwest Christian Academy 46-22 before the Warriors beat Arkansas Christian Academy 68-46.
West Side Christian will move into the postseason portion of its basketball season this week when it travels to Bryant to compete in the Heartland Christian Athletic Association 2A East Regional Tournament.
STRONG - Strong avenged an earlier loss on Friday, knocking off Hermitage 59-36 in a key 1A 8 matchup. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 12-6, 7-3 while the Lady Hermits fell to 10-13, 6-3.
West Side Christian came back from the weather schedule disruption with a pair of varsity wins over Gospel Light on Tuesday. The Warriors built an early lead and pulled away for a 69-52 victory.
The Lady Warriors improved to 16-4 on the season after a 58-35 win in the senior girls’ game.
