Motorcycle-pickup truck crash injures one in Rockport

Mon, 07/12/2021 - 8:15pm Just after 5 p.m., July 12,  Rockport police and firefighters, along with a North East Mobile Health Services ambulance crew, responded to a crash on Route 17 involving a motorcycle and pickup truck. According to Camden-Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne, the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 17 and Meadow Street.  Police said that Donald Crockett, 55 of Rockland, was operating his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling West on Rockland Street, as Christopher LeBlanc, 49, of Rockland, was operating a 2018 Chevrolet pickup and turning left on to Rockland Street from Meadow Street when they crashed. Crockett was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport with non-life threatening injuries.

(Photo courtesy Royan Bartley, Rockport Fire Photographer) ROCKPORT Camden-Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne has identified the woman who died Feb. 17 in a Route 17 car crash as Elizabeth Sherfey, 26, of Hope.   Gagne said that a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, operated by Darreyl Wright, of Union, was heading east on Route 17 near Rocky Pond just after 6 p.m., when that vehicle crashed head-on with a 2004 Toyota Matrix, operated by Sherfey.

One Person is Dead after a Head-On Crash in Rockport A woman has died from injuries sustained in a head-on crash in Rockport Wednesday night. The accident happened on Route 17, near Rocky Pond. Reconstruction teams worked through the night to try and figure out exactly how the two vehicles collided. Camden-Rockport Police Chief Randy Gagne told the Penbay Pilot the female driver of the westbound vehicle died as a result of injuries she sustained in the accident. Her male passenger was being evaluated for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the eastbound vehicle were treated and released.
