Freshman Cole Jenkins blasted two home runs Tuesday to lead the VMI baseball team to a 9-5 win over Norfolk State in non-conference action from Gray-Minor Stadium.
The Keydets countered two NSU runs in the first with three of their own in the bottom of the inning. Callen Nuccio doubled to score Ty Swaim and Cole Garrett singled to bring home Nuccio. Jenkins drove in his first run of the game with a single.

The VMI baseball team had five players with multiple hits Friday evening and cruised to a 13-5 victory at The Citadel in the opening game of a three-game Southern Conference series. The contest was called in the eighth inning after the benches cleared.
Red-shirt sophomore Will Knight was 3-5 for VMI with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Justin Starke was 2-3 with a triple, two walks, two runs and two RBI. Zac Morris went 2-4 with a home run, two runs and a walk, Cody Warner had two hits and a walk and Ty Swaim also had two hits. Callen Nuccio tripled, walked and scored twice and Cole Garrett drove in three runs Nathan Loyd walked twice and stole a base.

VMI exploded for 18 hits in the second game of a Southern Conference doubleheader Friday against Wofford to earn a split at home in Gray-Minor Stadium.
The Terriers won the first game 7-1 and VMI took the second 11-7.
Game 1
Wofford took a 1-0 lead in the second frame but VMI tied it up with a run in the bottom of the third. Ty Swaim singled and later scored a Cody Warner double. Wofford scored five runs in the top of the fifth to forge a 6-1 lead and added an insurance run in the eighth.

Redshirt freshman Trey Morgan blasted two homers Saturday as VMI rolled to a 17-7 victory over JMU in non-conference play from Gray-Minor Stadium.
Morgan hit a solo home run in the top of the third and followed up with a two-run blast to right field in the fifth. The centerfielder’s first was a part of a four-run Keydet third inning to put VMI ahead 5-1, and his second longball drove in two of the eight runs to cross the plate in the fifth.
