Hunkering down as Law Enforcement swept the campus. Now, when shots rang out, broke out at Skyline High School in the oakland hills, the campus immediately went into lockdown as students ran for cover and hid in classrooms. Oakland police chp officers and Alameda County sheriffs deputies all responded to the school at about 1130 tuesday morning. Authorities confirmed that shots were fired, but nobody was hurt. Jose matesmuchin, the 17 year old senior, says she took refuge in the closet of a french classroom. She has a brother who is a freshman. She quickly called him to make sure he was safe. The janitor had opened the closet for him. The custodian, mr. Lee, i think he was doing kind of what he was trying to do. And hes i mean, only meeting him a couple times. Stretched for miles. Reporter the traffic snarled traffic through the friday night commute at one point closing all four southbound lanes. Hours long grid lock followed a fatal accident about 4 00 this afternoon. California Highway Patrol officers say a dump truck and bus collided on southbound highway 101. The truck lay on its side across several lanes of freeway. Early reports said the driver was pinned underneath the truck. I dont know that he was actually pinned under the truck or inside the cab. Reporter emergency crews gave cpr, but the driver died on the scene. About a dozen people were on the 14 express bus. The driver and several passengers suffered minor injuries. Detectives are trying to piece together what happened. We dont believe speed was an issue here. Um, traffic at the time of day was fairly slow. We spoke with the bay area man who survived, but his life will never be the same. Its like it just happened yesterday. Reporter one single bullet. Went through my chest and both lungs. Reporter and arthur would see his life. It shattered my spine. Reporter it would never be the same. I was shot december 2nd, but i didnt wake up until december 23rd, and the doctor came in and told me i suffered a spinal cord injury, and i said what does that mean . He said id be paralyzed and idly the rest of my id live the rest of my life in a wheelchair. Reporter at just 20 years old he was paralyzed from the waist down, and in the meantime the attacker was still out there. He was attacked walking outside of a club in San Francisco. I dont even know who the shooter is. He was never found. Reporter arthur says he fell into a depression, but he says as he lay in his hospital bed, one of his mentors told him life goes on. Used cell phone may have cost a man his life. We have learned that a man was killed at a gas station at east 14th street and 159th avenue in san leandro. We are told the gas station was a meeting spot for two people making a deal to sell a used phone. But for some reason, one of the two pulled a weapon and shot the other. The gunman took off. We dont know yet if the person killed was buying or selling the phone. It has been more than a month since the wildfires devastated parts of the north bay and now with the hollands approaching many holidays approaching many fire victims still have no place to call home.
