A U.S. civil rights official has warned two colleges that their segregated graduation ceremonies for Black, LGBTQ and other minority students are illegal under federal anti-discrimination laws.
– As part of a collaboration years in the making, the Latino Outreach Council of San Luis Obispo County and Cal Poly’s Office of University Diversity and Inclusion are co-sponsoring the showing of “La Perla,” an iconic Mexican-American film, during the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1 at the Fremont Theater.

In an email sent from the Cal Poly Office of the President Saturday, school officials say swastikas and other anti-Semitic graffiti was found in front of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house, a Jewish-student-affiliated organization.
School leaders say while the repair of the damage is underway, the emotional scars will last longer.
Resources have been offered for students who may need counseling following this event.
It s unclear at this time who may be responsible for the damage.

Officials say the incident occurred on the Shabbat, a day of religious observance in the Jewish community that takes place from sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday.
