On November 9, 2023, a Humboldt County jury found Shawn Patrick McMahon, age 51, guilty of first degree murder for killing Benjamin Thomas, age 41. The jury also found that Mr. McMahon personally and intentionally discharged a firearm, causing Mr. Thomas’s death.
Today, a Humboldt County jury found Frederick Adams (43) of Eureka, guilty of the six felony charges brought against him by the District Attorney, including two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child against different victims.

Judge Kaleb Cockrum sentenced 28-year-old Austin M. Medeiros of Rhode
Island to serve 25 years to life in prison for the first-degree
murder of 28-year-old Emily Lobba. Medeiros was ordered to serve an
additional 6 years, four months for felony evading, theft of a
vehicle, and assaulti
