Trump. Whats up deplorable . This is mtp daily and it starts right now. Good evening. Im katy tur in new york in for chuck todd and welcome to mtp daily. And welcome to a case of purity polluting our politics. If you want to survive in this Republican Party, you need to be mad, crazy about President Trump. And if you want to thrive in the Democratic Party, do you need to be crazy mad about President Trump . Are you stuck in the middle . As the saying goes, there is nothing in the middle of the road. But yellow lines and dead armadillos. Want to get ahead in Trumps White House . Loyalty and flattery is your ticket to ride. The president has tapped his doctor admiral Ronny Jackson to run the v. A. Does jackson have an experience running a giant bureaucracy with hundreds of thousands of employees . No. But he did rather memorably praise President Trump as an articulate healthy and genetic marvel. All Clinical Data indicates the president is very healthy and that he will remain so for the
maybe. okay. david ciccilie, good to see you. joining me now, caitlyn burns. na eesh shah ras could he. ladies, good morning to you here. i want to start with the president s latest tweets. trump calling out mueller by name and going after his team. what do you think is behind this, caitlyn? well, the president has been active, as we know, in trying to undermine this investigation. the fact that he used mueller s name, which i don t believe he has before, shows how invested he is in all of this in terms of what it means for him. what s interesting about the mccabe and the report issue, this could have been an opportunity for the president to say, look, this is an independent investigation by the fbi that found wrongdoing by the fbi. instead he has been going after mccabe, denigrating him for months now and also, of course, denigrating his own attorney
expand. the mueller mandate is very broad looking at allegations of collusion but also in terms of the president s possible obstruction of justice and the more he talks about james comey in those tweets, the more he talks about mccabe and the fact that mueller is looking into the possible obstruction of justice by the president, you know, you have to wonder how that could contribute to that particular element of the probe and, again, raises the issue of the president constantly weighing in on these things and only expanding this kind of on his ownby his own comments. and do you think, caitlyn, a lot of the timing of this according to the new york times is that special counsel mueller has given president trump a list of questions he wants answered, precursor, negotiations for a more thorough interview. do you think it s just a matter of time before the president has to sit down with mueller, caitlyn?
general jeff session which raises the question of whether this was vindictive on the part of the president and also on the part of jeff sessions trying to get back into good graces with the president. it also raises questions beyond that about what the president wants to do in terms of mueller. raises questions anew about whether he wants to end this probe. end this probe, sure. ayesha, to caitlyn s point, it s the first time mueller s name has been specifically used. is the president trying to lay the ground for firing mueller by discrediting him and the team? well, it definitely seems like he s trying to raise questions about mueller. he s made them emboldened because the republicans came out with their report and they said it was no collusion so he may feel like he has some backing, he has an official finding to say, look, please you know,
this has gone on long enough. now he keeps talking about a witch hunt but mueller has indicted some witches or some people and the white house has taken it seriously. when it comes to the russians, they enacted sanctions this week on russians that were indicted by mueller. on the one hand it seems like the white house is saying this is a serious this is a serious investigation but on the other hand you have president trump saying it s time for it to end. caitlyn, in terms of the value of these mccabe memos, it s reported that mccabe met one time with the president. the president says in his tweet that he spent very little time with him, but he also seems to suggest that whatever are included in the memos are self-serving for mccabe. is that how you re reading it? i m reading that tweet and the series of tweets really as a sign that the president is concerned about how this could
