The Winking Owl restaurant in Aviemore is the latest venue to fall foul of the crisis, brought on by a perfect storm generated by Brexit and Covid-19. Owned by Cairngorm Brewery, the popular eatery has gone “drinks only” because it is unable to staff its kitchen. General manager Michael Farry said The Winking Owl is serving only drinks until they can recruit a full team for the kitchen.

A new tourism organisation has launched a website it says will unite the industry across the region as it looks towards its recovery. The Highland Tourism group – founded last week by Yvonne Crook, director of Good Highland Food, and Sam Faircliff, managing director of Cairngorm Brewery – pushed the button on highlandtourism.org on Friday.
