Authorities in Davidson and Randolph Counties are looking for a man they say committed an assault Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff s Office responded to an assault call at 4:50 p.m. on Cabin Creek Road near Denton. The suspect, Dustin Diehl, drove away from the scene and was pursued by deputies into Randolph County, according to a Facebook post from the Davidson County Sheriff s Office.
Deputies said Diehl crashed his vehicle near Gopher Woods Road / Old Highway 49, where he got out of the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods nearby.
At 8 a.m. on Thursday, a resident on Moore Rd. called 911 saying they saw Diehl running from a barn, according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff s Office. Deputies arrived at 8:06 a.m. and saw Diehl. They began chasing him on foot before losing him in the woods, deputies said.
Authorities are warning people not to approach Dustin Diehl, who also was involved in two separate wrecks while being chased by deputies, according to a news release.
