Authorities in Davidson and Randolph Counties are looking for a man they say committed an assault Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office responded to an assault call at 4:50 p.m. on Cabin Creek Road near Denton. The suspect, Dustin Diehl, drove away from the scene and was pursued by deputies into Randolph County, according to a Facebook post from the Davidson County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Diehl crashed his vehicle near Gopher Woods Road / Old Highway 49, where he got out of the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods nearby.
At 8 a.m. on Thursday, a resident on Moore Rd. called 911 saying they saw Diehl running from a barn, according to a press release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. Deputies arrived at 8:06 a.m. and saw Diehl. They began chasing him on foot before losing him in the woods, deputies said.
