Summit County Democrats nominated two candidates during the party’s virtual convention on Saturday with one heading to the November ballot and the other unseating the incumbent.
John “Jack” Murphy, a Republican, launched a campaign for the Summit County Council last week. The political newcomer says he is interested in bringing balance back to the county s public office.
It was a night of newcomers at the Summit County Republican Party caucus on Tuesday, but that won’t deter the group from their goal of bringing a red wave to the coming election.
People campaigning for public office had until 5 p.m. on Friday to formally launch their bids, and the candidate pool for County Courthouse races is more balanced than in recent years.
