Lorenzo Cedrola was scorching a path down to first base and tried to beat out a throw in the bottom of the fifth. The throw was close, but the Lookout’s star player was called out by the first-base umpire. Cedrola slammed his helmet down in disgust, the protective equipment thrown with such force that it bounced into the sky like a basketball. The umpire ejected Cedrola, and the centerfielder didn t stop walking until he got back to the clubhouse.

Filling in for Olympian Mark Kolozsvary, catcher Jay Schuyler was tearing down the basepaths on a steal attempt. If he could reach second, the Lookouts would have a player in scoring position and perhaps some new life. But as he slid, his cleats must have got stuck in the dirt. His slide came up just a bit short, and the Lookout catcher was tagged out. The entire Lookout offense seemed stuck in the dirt until too late in their Tuesday 3-0 loss to the Birmingham Barons.

The Chattanooga Lookouts have been playing outstanding baseball in recent games, but Wednesday night’s contest against the Tennessee Smokies at AT&T Field wasn’t included

The last remaining member of Chattanooga’s trifecta of golden prospects made his long-awaited return to the pitcher’s mound in the Lookouts’ 7-3 win over the Tennessee Smokies. For 17 pitches, Lookout fans got to watch top pitching prospect Nick Lodolo mow down all six Smokies he faced.

Home runs, strikeouts, and walks. These three outcomes rule modern baseball, for better or for worse. Trash Panda starter Reid Detmers struck out a whopping 16 batters in only six innings of work? That’s great, right?
Well, he also gave up three home runs and five earned runs in the Lookouts 8-6 win against Rocket City. Such is the nature of America’s pastime in 2021. Played under cloudy skies, the Lookouts struck out 19 times but still came away with the win.
Ray Patrick-Didder used his blazing speed, and some subpar Lookouts fielding, to get on second after a grounder to third went awry. He came home after David MacKinnon dropped a line drive in front of center fielder T.J Hopkins. For the second time in as many days, the Trash Pandas went up before the Lookouts had even had a chance to take a swing.
