Six-year-old Isaac Reyes is the talk of Hyannis. I saved my mom, he says, matter-of-fact, when State Rep. Kip Diggs asked the Barnstable West Barnstable first-grader Saturday what he did to earn recognition from the Massachusetts State House for hiheroism.
Isaac s mother Tatyana had recently returned home from having surgery. His dad Yael had just stepped out with Isaac s younger brothers, Noah and Lucas.
Tatyana s blood pressure and blood sugar dropped rapidly, and she was unresponsive on the floor of their apartment.
So Isaac dialed 911.
A Barnstable Police Dispatcher stayed on the line with Isaac, instructing him how to do chest compressions and assuring him that EMS was on the way.

The Pekin City Council approved the creation of a new Business Development District along the Court Street Corridor.
Council members didn t mince words Monday night, saying the city s previous reluctance to offer such incentives led to major retail developments heading instead to Peoria and East Peoria. This is an opportunity that hasn t come our way in a couple decades, said Pekin Mayor Mark Luft. And if we pass up this opportunity, we re either going to stay completely idle - where you see Pekin right now - or it s going to continue to move backwards. And that s just the reality of it.
