They say bad weather brings good luck, and it rained like heck at last years steak fry, and then we won back the congress. I was in business saving jobs and then was the superintendent of the Denver Public schools, a large, urban School District where most of the kids live in poverty but have the exact same dreams as my kids. I have been in the Senate Facing tough elections in a purple state. 10 years ago, when i got back to washington, i thought what i would find is the bedrock of our democracy. Contra costa county where that fire is burning had the hottest temperature in the bay area today on a day of recordsetting heat. And more records may fall tomorrow. And with all of that heat today we are Still Holding on to some very warm temperatures outside. 79 in concord, 78 fremont, 75 san jose. And 76 in lake port. Reaching the upper 90s. Up to 103 in gilroy. East bay temperatures up to 106 in antioch. Well talk more about this and whats ahead. Its a slow drive in the east bay. We are showing mostly green censorkre sensors, but right there is where the overnight construction crew is. Overnight we had down to one lane of traffic open. Thats the reason for this slow drive. For that one short segment of 880 north bound. 580 is still off limits for the big rigs. Larger trucks have to travel on the nimitz. 580 west is clear. Second day of triple digit temperatures. Theyre expected to cause a lot of problems as well. In Contra Costa County, schools will be shut down because of the heat. Today in the bays jou lays it out for us. The heat making the most mundane task even harder. At this chevron station in alamo, the lights went out for a few seconds causing confusion at the pump. I was having problems over at my house too.
