9 Bird Species Face Extinction In Indonesia Deforestation, hunting, capture of wild birds main factors for decline in bird populations, says conservation group. Nine bird species in Indonesia are threatened with extinction this year, a conservation group said on Wednesday. The endangered species include the sunset lorikeet (Trichoglossus forsteni), brown-cheeked bulbul (Alophoixus bres), grey-cheeked bulbul (Alophoixus tephrogenys), aceh bulbul (Pycnonotus snouckaerti), and chestnut-capped thrush (Geokichla interpres), according to local organization Burung Indonesia. The population of the brown-cheeked bulbul species is now estimated to have decreased by up to 50% in its living areas in Java and Bali islands, read a statement. It cited deforestation, hunting, and capture of birds from the wild as the main factors for the decline in bird populations.

Aga Abdul, 29, and Al Dasir Abduraji, 25, changed their plea to guilty to the joint charges. The duo, who hold Burung Burung cards, pleaded guilty to having 12 bombed fishes at 4am on July 17, 2020 at the Safma’s jetty here. They had on Aug 26 last year claimed trial to the charge under Section 26 (1) (c ) of the Fisheries Act 1985, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for a fine of up to RM20,000 or a jail term of up to two years or both on conviction.
