Sturgis Journal St. Joseph County school districts are looking ahead to their respective high school senior graduation ceremonies, with tentative plans underway for commencement. While the COVID-19 pandemic continues, vaccine distribution coincides with a downturn in number of cases. However, the unpredictability of the virus, and new variants emerging, continues uncertainty of finalizing plans for May and June. By that time, school districts may find pandemic restrictions eased, or the 2021 commencement could require limited attendance, masks and continued social- distancing. Officials at Sturgis Public Schools have selected 2 p.m. June 6 for the graduation ceremony.  “Our plan is to have a traditional outdoor graduation ceremony with as much of the normal pomp, circumstance, and crowds as allowed by the state of Michigan,” Superintendent Art Ebert said.
