Burlington, IA- The Burlington Fire Department will be holding a processional in honor of a long-time Burlington Firefighter who passed away on March 23rd. Burlington Firefighter Ky Duttlinger passed away from job-related cancer on March 23, 2023. A memorial service will be held at Burlington Community High School, Carl Johanssen Gymnasium, at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Beginning at about 10:30 AM Saturday, members of the Burlington Fire Department will be conducting a processional from Central Fire Station to Burlington High School, passing by many of Duttlinger's favorite places. Burlington, IA- The Burlington Fire Department is inviting the public to attend a 9/11 remembrance ceremony being held on Sunday, September 11th, at Central Fire Station, 418 Valley Street. The ceremony will feature the ringing of the station and town church bells, posting of the Colors by the Burlington Police Department Honor Guard, keynote address, the playing of "Taps" by the Iowa Army National Guard, closing prayer by a Burlington Police and Fire Department Chaplain Simeon Counterman, and "Amazing Grace" by Retired Burlington Deputy Fire Chief Gene Wilkerson The keynote address will be given by Fire Chief Matt Trexel. Area fire departments, law enforcement, first responders and EMS personnel will be in attendance. The memorial will begin at 7:46 AM with the ringing of the station bell.
