With a $316,000 grant from FEMA, the Burlington Fire Department has purchased new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) air packs, replacing the department s old ones.
The grant covered all systems and accessories.
The department has already begun training with the 45 MSA G1 SCBA s, purchased from Sandry Fire Supply, considered the best in class, that fire officials expect to last for 15 years. The department has undergone training with the sales representative and will continue training to improve proficiencies with the hope of having the equipment placed into service within the next few weeks, according to a Burlington Fire Department Facebook post on Friday.
