Reflections on software development from anywhere on an iPad

The Macbook Pro M1 is the software development laptop of choice yet I love my iPad considerably more. I'm all in with my thin client for hipsters. Here’s what I’ve learned over the months and how my baremetal homelab in the sky is setup.

Boot-washing stations installed to protect ancient bunya pines

Date Time Boot-washing stations installed to protect ancient bunya pines The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) has installed boot-washing stations at walking track entrances in Bunya Mountains National Park to help protect bunya pines for future times from a potentially devastating soil-based disease. Ranger Adam Taylor said QPWS had been working with expert plant pathologists to investigate why a number of bunya pines in the national park had become unhealthy or had died. “Extensive testing of soil and root samples found evidence of two introduced species of Phytophthora, a disease-causing plant pathogen, and scientists think this could be the cause,” Mr Taylor said.

Forests Don t Offset as Much CO2 as Countries Claim

Comments Off on Forests Don’t Offset as Much CO2 as Countries Claim BRUSSELS, Belgium, May 3, 2021 (ENS) – A giant gap between the amount of greenhouse gases countries report emitting and the amount of these heat-trapping gases independent scientists estimate from global models that the countries actually emit, a scientific team led by researchers of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre has found. The main issue is that there appears to be a “conceptual discrepancy between model estimates and country reporting,” the JRC researchers said. As a fix, the JRC scientists are proposing a method for improving the assessment of the world’s collective progress towards the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting the global temperature increase to two degrees Celsius (2°C) above preindustrial levels.
