Over 5,000 applications opposing smart meters were submitted at the office of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL) in the city on Monday by Congress and AAP workers. The residents do not wish to have smart meters and are requesting DGVCL to first improve their infrastructure to avoid power cuts or fire accidents. If smart meters are beneficial, BJP leaders and workers should get them installed first. Protest threats against installation without information have been made.
