Im very excited to welcome you all here for what i hope will be an interesting discussion on self driving cars. Its an interesting topic because we are at a stage we are asking when the questions not if when it comes to the widespread use of the vehicles and we have three exits to talk about it. So what happens i know the magistrate judge or the judge below here said that it was preposterous to think that this prisoner could hide anything in his half inch beard. Assuming that his half inch beard was not thickly grown, but some are, and some you cant see the skin. Should that half inch issue be applied to that prisoner . Wouldnt it be a different set of facts in that case to consider . Well, a state might be able to show thats a different set of facts. You know, but the question is not just is it conceivably imaginable that some prisoner somewhere could hide something in a half inch beard. But could he hide something there that he couldnt much more easily and more securely hide in the hair on top of his head, in his shoe, in the lining of his clothes . For all half inch beards, right . Yes. We have to assume all half inch beards are okay if god tells you to grow them, right . Well, you know, i think thats right, and again subject to somebody producing evidence that were wrong a
American consumers rightfully expect their personal information should be protected by their Financial Institution by their retailers, payment processors that neither federal government. Consumer should be left to hope and pray that all information will be safe every time despite their debit or credit card or rent your information online. They deserve protection. Today the committee will hear from representatives of organization to constitute major participation for the Payment System. We welcome their expertise and insight. My hope is they carried out for its members on both sides an opportunity to better understand what security measures are currently in place to prevent data breaches, how consumers are notified and what types of emergency technologies will help reduce the frequency and severity of breaches and what steps are being taken by the merchant in Financial Services communities to address the problem and where additional federal legislation may be warranted. Trumka and on this issue there is so much overlap and the question is raised immediately, if organized labor and the Largest Business Group in washington are on the same page, why cant this get done. Maybe ill go to you, rich, first. Whats standing in the way . Youve looked at this issue and battled over this for years. Whats in the way . Its pure politics right now. Number one they retain all the infrastructure they wid need to break all those caps. Second enforcing such a deal requires there to be open, full inspections.
