The Kuala Lumpur Alternative Bookfest (KLAB) opens today (April 9) at Level 4, Sunway Putra Mall in KL.
This three-day book fair, which focuses on the Malaysian indie publishing industry, is in its 12th edition this year.
It is organised by Patriots Malaysia Association (The Patriots), in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur World Book Capital (KLWBC) and Buku Fixi.
“This book fest is an effort to enhance the productivity and reachability of the nation’s book industry. Due to the movement control order (MCO) and Covid-19 this year’s event will be held at a smaller scale. But the main point is, we want to gather local publishers, writers, and readers at one place, ” says Syazrul Aqram, chairman of the KLAB 2021 organising committee.

Between 2001 and 2003, a young Arif (then in his 20s) and a group of college friends decided to travel around South-East Asia. Away from his comfort zone, Arif encountered both good and bad things, some unexpected experiences.
