Niagara County Fair plans to return August 4 in Lockport with midway, music and animals

LOCKPORT, N.Y. W(KBW) â The Cornell Cooperative Extension, which organizes the Niagara County Fair, has submitted its plan to the county for approval to operate the fair in August.
Last year s fair was one of many canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to organizers, the Niagara County Fair is currently scheduled to start on August 4 in Lockport and run through August 8. Under the plan submitted to the county, the fair would include many attractions fairgoers are used to seeing, including midway rides, games, food, live performances and 4-H exhibits.
Walden Galleria no longer requiring masks for those who are fully vaccinated

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) â Walden Galleria announced updated mask guidance in accordance with the CDC and New York State s updated guidance.
Beginning today shoppers who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to wear a mask. Those who are not fully vaccinated are still required to wear a mask.
Walden Galleria says masks are still strongly encouraged for all guests as individual venue rules may differ. We are very pleased that the State of New York and the surrounding region continue to make progress rebounding from the pandemic. Hats off to all those who have done their part in bringing the difficulties of the past 15 months closer to an end and to all of our guests who have been fully vaccinated, a release says.
Erie County Fair and county fairs across NY can reopen, local and state approval required in some cases

ALBANY, N.Y. (WKBW) â In an announcement from New York City on Monday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced all county fairs can reopen this summer with some restrictions.
Fairs can reopen at full capacity if they have a permit from their local health department and can ensure six feet of social distancing will be possible for attendees.
Fairs with attendance of more than 5,000 people need to also obtain New York State Department of Health approval in order to operate. Private and government-owned venues can set their own rules beyond the state guidance on mask-wearing and social distancing.
Erie County Fair will officially take place August 11-22 following state announcement

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) â Following an announcement by Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday morning, the organizers of the Erie County Fair confirm the fair will take place on August 11-22 at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.
In a COVID-19 response briefing, Cuomo announced county fairs, including the Erie County Fair, could open this summer. Fairs must get permits from their local health departments and attendees must practice social distancing. Larger fairs, like the Erie County Fair, must get state approval.
The Erie County Agricultural Society, which organizes the fair, told 7 Eyewitness News last week that it had already presented a plan to state and county health departments.
