BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â The United Way of Buffalo & Erie County has launched its Join the Fight campaign and is looking for your help in support of long-term COVID-19 relief.
UWBEC says its Join the Fight campaign will take lessons it has learned during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure those throughout Buffalo and Erie County have access to the following:
Information and resources associated with safe and affordable housing.
Nutritious food.
Opportunities for workers to build skills to secure employment or advance in the workplace.
Temporary order allowing some restaurants to stay open past 10 p.m. suspended ahead of court date
Effective immediately, the restaurants involved in the case must resume closing at 10 p.m., in accordance with state guidelines for all restaurants.

On Wednesday morning, Hon. Patrick H. NeMoyer, an Associate Justice on the New York State Supreme Court s Appellate Division, signed an order to show cause. The order requires attorneys for the nearly 100 restaurants in the initial court case and the state s attorneys to appear in court on February 16th. The restaurants attorneys must provide additional materials to prove their case. Attorneys from the state will also be allowed to provide additional documentation.
Legislation to help restaurant & hospitality industry
Some of the legislation includes giving small businesses additional time to pay monthly sales and payroll taxes.

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) â The second shutdown really took a toll on business at the Glen Park Tavern in Williamsville.
The restaurant s co-owner, Ellie Grenauer, said she watches TV everyday hoping for the passage of another PPP. It was so hard, I really seriously considered closing, she said. We were dying. People would go to Niagara County and eating in. I mean we still have very loyal customers, but you know the reality is people want to eat inside in a restaurant.
Lifted COVID-19 restrictions not enough according to businesses

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â The lifting of some restrictions for restaurants, a welcome sign for Juicy Burger Bar in Hamburg. It s been 11 months now so we re ready to reopen, Juicy Burger Bar VP of Operations Heather Williams said.
The full reopening Williams was hoping for, isn t coming just yet. The biggest immediate change is restaurants can have up to 10 people at a table, up from a limit of four. The 10pm closing time remains and if you order alcohol at a bar, you still must order food.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â The City of Buffalo, the University at Buffalo, and the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation have partnered up to create a conservancy plan for Centennial Park in Buffalo.
âA Conservancy management structure will continue the strong public engagement that has driven the Imagine LaSalle initiative since its inception. While Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park will draw tourists beyond Buffalo and Western New York, it is first and foremost a âpeopleâs parkâ. The Conservancyâs board and sub-committee structure will guarantee the parkâs neighbors and users have a long-term voice in its physical and programming offerings,â said Mayor Byron W. Brown.
