Second part of Parliament's Budget session starts today with Covid measures

The second part of the Budget session of Parliament will commence from Monday with all COVID-19 precautionary measures in place. The Rajya Sabha will function from 9 am to 2 pm while Lok Sabha will function between 4 pm to 10 pm. The second part of the session will conclude April 8, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had informed. The Budget Session of Parliament, which commenced with the address of President Ram Nath Kovind on January 29, concluded on February 29. The Union budget was tabled in the Parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1. The Lok Sabha clocked 99.5 per cent productivity during the first phase of the two-part Budget session of Parliament, Lok Sabha Secretariat said. Birla informed that during the first part of the Budget Session 2021, Lok Sabha sat for 49 hours and 17 minutes against the stipulated time of 50 hours.

Delhi Assembly Budget session from March 8; health, education to be focus

The Delhi Assembly s Budget session will begin from March 8. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Delhi cabinet, deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said in a tweet. The session will end on March 16. The government will present its budget for 2021-22with a focus on areas of health, education and infrastructure including water supply, according to sources. New taxes are unlikely, the sources said. The government had presented a Rs 65,000 crore budget for 2020-2021 that was around 10 per cent more than that in 2019-20. Chhattisgarh CM presents budget of Rs 97,106 cr for 2021-22

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday presented a budget of Rs 97,106 crore for 2021-22 in the Assembly. He said the budget defines the concept of development through the acronym HEIGHT, where H stands for holistic development, E for education (equal opportunity for all), I for infrastructure, G for governance, H for health and T for transformation. The CM said, in the budget, 38 per cent provision is for the social sector, 39 per cent for the economic sector and 23 per cent for the general service sector. The estimated gross expenditure for 2021-22 is Rs 1,05,213 crore. The net expenditure is estimated at Rs 97,106 crore after deducting the repayment of loans and recoveries from gross expenditure. Revenue expenditure is Rs 83,028 crore and capital expenditure is Rs 13,839 crore, which is 14 per cent of the total expenditure, the CM said in his speech.

UP Budget Session begins Thursday, Speaker appeals for smooth proceedings

The Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature will begin with Governor Anandiben Patel s address to a joint sitting of both Houses of the state legislature on Thursday. The Yogi Adityanath government is slated to present its annual budget for 2021-22 on Monday. This will be the last budget of the BJP government before the state goes to polls early next year. As the opposition parties prepared to grill the government on pressing issues, particulary those relating to the ongoing farmer protests, law and order and the handling of the coronavirus pandemic, Assembly Speaker Hriday Narain Dixit sought cooperation of leaders of all parties for smooth conduct of business.
