Five-member Indian judo team for Tel Aviv Grand Slam

New Delhi, Feb 11 : A five-member Indian team is set to compete at the Tel Aviv Grand Slam, to be held from February 18 to 20, but the squad, which also includes a coach, hasn’t got visas so far.
Jasleen Singh Saini (66kg) and Vijay Yadav (60kg), Avtar Singh (100kg), Sushila Devi (women’s 48kg), and Tulika Mann (women’s 78kg) are the players while Jiwan Sharma is the coach.
All five competed at a two-day national selection trials for Olympic qualifying competitions, including the Asian Oceania, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday and Wednesday.

New Delhi, Feb 11 : With less than six months to go before the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics, Indian judokas will get the opportunity to earn crucial ranking points which will help them in their qualification efforts as a six-member team, comprising five players and a coach, will head to Israel to participate in the Tel Aviv Grand Slam which will take place from February 18-20.
The contingent will comprise of Avtar Singh (Men s 100 kg), Vijay Yadav (Men s 60 kg), Jasleen Singh Saini (Men s 66 kg), Shushila Devi (Women s 48 kg) and Tulika Mann (Women s 78 kg). They will be accompanied by chief coach Jiwan Sharma, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said in a media release.
Two-time Olympic champion Riner headlines IJF World Judo Masters in Doha Sunday, 10 January 2021
French Olympic champion Teddy Riner headlines the International Judo Federation (IJF) World Judo Masters which starts tomorrow in Doha.
Competition at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall is set to feature around 399 athletes from 69 countries.
Standout athletes include Riner in the men’s over-100 kilograms division.
The 31-year-old, who also has 10 world titles to his name, triumphed at London 2012 and Rio 2016.
He also went on an unbeaten run of 154 victories which lasted nearly 10 years, before Riner was finally vanquished by Japan’s Kokoro Kageura at last year’s Paris Grand Slam.
