3 LeT OGWs involved in bank robbery, SPOâs killing arrested

SRINAGAR, Apr 24: Police today arrested three persons who allegedly decamped with cash from a Jammu and Kashmir Bank Branch in Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district two days ago.
Police said they are involved in three other robberies this year in the Valley and killing of a former SPO earlier this month.
They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Singhpora Pattan, Rahil Ahmad Parray son of Bashir Ahmad Parray of Kanihama Magam and Arif Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Mazhama.
Bank robbery in Baramulla district, J&K
Within 48-hours after the robbery, the J&K Police arrested three persons involved in a sensational case in which three unidentified masked gunmen had looted cash from a branch of J&K Bank in the Pattan area of north Kashmir s Baramulla district. These gunmen, wearing PPE kits, had also decamped with a 12-bore rifle of the guard.
Interacting with media persons, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla said that looted money, weapons and other materials used for the crime has been recovered from their possession and further investigation is underway. The terror links of the accused are being investigated further. At the behest of Lashkar e Toiba henchmen, they were given these tasks to ensure financing and as an initiation rite to join full ranks from sleeper cell status, police said.

SRINAGAR: The former Special Police Officer (SPO) and brother of Head Constable was on Sunday shot dead by unknown gunmen at Magam area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district.

Srinagar, Apr 11: Five militants including a minor were killed in two separate gun battles in Southern Kashmir today while a 35-year old former SPO was shot dead in Budgam.
Among five, three were killed in Chitragam area of Shopian and two in Semthan, Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. One of the slain militants was identified as 16-year-old who had recently joined militancy.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told Excelsior that three militants were killed in orchards in between Reban, Bandpawa and Chitragam villages of Shopian district today.
He said that a joint operation was launched by Police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF on specific information about the presence of militants in Shopian area.
