Mar. 8 On his first day on campus in more than a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bryson Berry, a senior at Lexington s Frederick Douglass High School, on Monday had high hopes that everything could stay normal. Prom, graduation, I didn t get that last year, said Berry, who is headed to Dartmouth College in the fall. I m focused on those things and keeping my grades up.
Returning to classrooms for the first time in a year meant we are living history, principal Lester Diaz said.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â The Fayette County community paid final respects to the late Superintendent Emmanuel âMannyâ Caulk on Saturday.
FCPS students lined the entrance of First Baptist Church Bracktown from 9 a.m. to noon during a drive-thru visitation for Caulk.
âHe was about the kids, for the kids. Everything he did was to better their lives,â said Bryson Berry, who organized a toy drive in honor of Caulk.
Students told LEX 18 News theyâll remember Caulk as a fearless leader who made meaningful connections with those around him.
In honor of the late Superintendent Manny Caulk, students from six high schools in Fayette County are working together to host a toy drive for FCPS elementary school students in need this holiday season.
