Steve Bone, who lived in Norton, passed away on May 9, following a short illness, aged 59. A retired firefighter with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service based in Malton, his colleagues paid tribute to Steve with a guard of honour and escorted the cortege with two fire engines. Bryan Barratt, who worked with Steve for 10 years, said he felt honoured to call him a friend as well as a work colleague. “Steve was also very much a family man. I remember watching Steve and Sharon pushing their granddaughter Millie in a pushchair. She was the apple of his eye, the spring in his step, the smile on his face.”
