The latest Inside the 59 video from Jacksonville s Brumos Collection museum at 5159 San Pablo Road S., showcases a very rare street car – the all-wheel-drive 1985 Porsche 959 pre-prototype once owned by Helmuth Bott, the former executive vice president for research and development at Porsche AG. Brumos Collection
The pre race festivities at this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona will include six historic Brumos Porsches and Brumos founder Dano Davis has been named honorary starter for the historic race. The green flag flies at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday, January 30th.
Brumos is calling the collection 59 For The 59th since it’s the 59th Rolex and many of Brumos’ racecars carried No. 59 over the years.
A lifelong motorsports enthusiast, Davis partnered with Bob Snodgrass and purschased Brumos in 1990. They led the team to three IMSA Bridgestone Supercar Championships from 1991 to 1993. Brumos got out of full-time racing but returned in 2003, competing in the Grand Am Daytona Prototype class. Brumos finished first and third in the 2009 Rolex. Two years later, Brumos returned to its roots, competing in the GT class and won the GT championship.
Brumos Collection Is Reopening to the Public on January 21

The Brumos Collection says it is reopening its doors to the public on Thursday, January 21. Following its January 2020 grand opening, the collector-car destination in Jacksonville, Florida, closed to the public last March 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
The Collection is going to be open from Thursday through Saturday starting at 10 a.m., with the last admissions at 4 p.m.
Officials said the collection staff is implementing “extensive health and safety measures for both guests and staff. Related Story
“Every reasonable safety precaution will be utilized, including face coverings, sanitizing stations located throughout the facility, strict social distancing guidelines, and the issuance of a Brumos Collection-branded stylus for guest use at all touch-screen vehicle information kiosks,” officials said.
