Metro workers on friday and today we learned this is not about a contract. Workers are very upset with a new sick policy. Metro workers are now required to request most excused absences including sick leave and get supervisor approval of at least three full schedule workdays in advance so people who will be sick on friday had to request that day yesterday in order to follow policy. Now, the union says they did not ask anyone to call out sick but they did call the policy ridiculous and asinine. Metro put a statement out yesterday saying that due to the threat of a sickout, all the supervisor will be forced to work 12 hour shifts.
