FAIRMONT Several programs and events recognize hardworking and community-minded people, but those are often geared toward the elderly. While not seeking to diminish lifetime achievements, it can also be important to recognize younger generations for their forward-thinking efforts.
To that end, a recognition event known as “4 Under 40” is prepared to honor four Martin County residents, including Blake Potthoff, Laura Olsen, Kaleena Wiens, and Benjamin Landsteiner.
Erik Karre, District Director for the Boy Scouts of America Twin Valley Action Council, shares information explaining the event.
“It’s designed to recognize up and coming leaders in the community. Many older people get recognized for lifetime commitments to things in the community,” he said. “Back in my hometown there really wasn’t a lot that was designed to recognize the young people. So I put together a committee of people in the community and we put this together.”
