Broughton sophomore Sam Harris and Southern Alamance pitcher Nathan Teague were locked in a pitcher's duel in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday night when something strange happened.
The Broughton Capitals girl's lacrosse team opened round one of the NCHSAA playoffs with a 19-12 win against conference opponent the Athens Drive Jaguars. The Capitals and Jaguars finished neck and neck in the CAP 6 Conference, with the Capitals in second place and the Jaguars in third. Capitals' Halle Moriarty and Jaguars' Claire Hensley combined 10 goals in tonight's matchup.
The Broughton Capitals defeated the Apex Cougars 18-5 in the first round of the NCHSAA Lacrosse championships. The Capitals finished in second place in the CAP 6 conference and the Cougars finished fifth in the Southwest Wake conference. Mason King and Robert Walker combined eight goals for the Capitals.
