i don t know if you know this, but my brother peter was killed in a mountain climbing accident when he was 19 years old. i didn t know that. i think the thing i certainly feel, and i m sure you do, that it never heals. the wound is always there. carrie, we had a rough time when she was a teenager with drugs. then she got sober. she had a great career going for herself. she was a performer. she was a writer. she was a musician. she was in a few movies. she had a running role on fame, the television show. then we decided, she wanted to write a play based on a book that i wrote about growing up with my grandmother and mother and so forth. we went the distance. we went to broadway with it. it was all wonderful.
