Elmira College recognized for transfer student support

Elmira College was recently named to the 2021 Transfer Honor Roll by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for its support of transfer students.
The Transfer Honor Roll, made possible by a $100,000 grant from The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, recognizes four-year colleges and universities that have developed transfer pathways that lead to excellence and success among community college transfer students. Colleges were selected based on their Transfer Friendliness Rating, which is determined by the Transfer Profile they create in PTK Connect, an online tool that helps students find their best-fit colleges, career pathways, and more.

While fire may have destroyed the Nimmonsburg Methodist Church in 1922, it did not stop the church from holding services. A foundation was poured and services were held.
As construction continued, the Nimmonsburg School rented space while a new school building was also being built. In 1923, the new church building was dedicated, as the congregation continued to grow.
As that congregation grew, there was a need to separate from the Chenango Bridge Methodist Church and circuit-riding ministers. In 1936, the split became official, and during the late 1930 s and through the 1940 s, the congregation became more involved in the growth of the church.
